Things You Forget to Clean on a Regular Basis

You do the cleaning at home by yourself? That’s great! Surely you have a system you follow and it allows you to keep track of all dirty spots and places that need a good wipe. But our experience as professional cleaners so far has shown us there are at least 6 things people forget to clean on a regular basis. Let’s see how many of these you skip too.

Your phone

Do you wipe and clean your phone every day? Yep, we thought so. It is one of the things we don’t actually think about but if you pause for a moment and recall all the places your phone has been today… you would want to pour a disinfectant over it. Not to mention we transfer microbes all over the screen with our fingertips and then put that on our faces, close to our mouths as we speak on the phone. Gross, yeah.

The air vents

Very few people remember to clean the air vents weekly. That’s the place where pollen, dust and other allergens and dirt accumulate the most. This could impact the air flow, worsen allergy symptoms and make you very uncomfortable in your own home. Leaving those close to the ground open in autumn could lead to an insect infestation because bugs are actively looking for warm and dry spots as cold weather approaches.

The light switches

Light switches are something we touch daily, but we don’t remember to wipe and disinfect them until it is time to deep clean the house. Light switches also accommodate tons of germs which we come into contact with more frequently than we think. Not cleaning the switches regularly makes it much harder to clean later, especially those in the kitchen. Sometimes, there is oil residue left on the surface which then traps and seals dust, making the switches look even dirtier. Removing those stains would cost you a lot of scrubbing.

The top of the light fixtures

A very frequently missed spot during regular cleans is the top of the light fixtures. Because you don’t see it every day you just don’t think about the amount of dust and dirt that’s there. It is there, though. The general rule in professional cleaning is start at the top and then work your way down to the bottom. That’s how you ensure you don’t miss less visible spots like these.

The toilet brush holder

Bathroom cleaning is a task, we know. And it could be so overwhelming that missing something can happen completely naturally. However, when it comes to the toilet brush holder most people skip it mainly out of disgust. Well, it’s not the most pleasant experience we must say, but it doesn’t make it any less important. The holder literally holds a gazillion of harmful bacteria. So, not only should you clean it regularly, but add an extra layer of protection. A few drops of tea tree essential oil can do the trick.

Your computer/laptop keyboard

Similarly to your phone, you touch your computer or laptop keyboard daily, yet you don’t clean it that often. We can put a wager on it. If you look closely right now, we are almost sure you will find some bread crumbs between the keys. Prove us wrong.
